Pizza Topping with Fresh Tomato Sauce (Southern Italian Style)

Ingredients

Pizza dough


Fresh Tomato Pizza Topping

2 tablespoons oil
2 gloves garlic, chopped
2 pounds fresh tomatoes, chopped
1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon sugar
salt, pepper



Directions

In a saucepan heat the oil and fry the garlic until golden.

Add the chopped tomatoes and all the remaining ingredients to the saucepan.

Simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes.



Prepare the pizza dough and place on a rectangular or round-shaped pan.

Cover the pizza dough with the cooked tomato sauce.

Bake in a 400 degree oven for about 25 minutes or until the crust is golden.
