Taralli con Vino Rosso (Sweet taralli, made without yeast, using red wine, vegetable oil, sugar and baking powder; baked)

Ingredients

2 1/8 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil, preferabley Canola
1/2 cup red wine
1 1/2 teaspoons Magic baking powder



Directions

o Preheat oven to 350 F. degrees.

o Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together.

o Make a well in the flour mixture and add the wine and vegetable oil.

o Work into a soft malleable dough, kneading for about 6 minutes (If the dough is too sticky, add a touch more flour).

o Shape the dough into a ball. Wrap with clear plastic wrap.

o Allow the dough to rest for about 1/2 hour.

o Shape the dough into a long log.

o Cut a small slice of the dough and using the palms of your hands form into a taralli-style small log -- about six inches long, 1/4 inch thick.

o Make a circle with the log, pinching the ends together.

o Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

o Repeat until all the dough is processed.

o Bake in the upper half of the oven until golden -- about 20 to 25 minutes.

o Serve at room temperature.
