Ingredients

1 quart strawberries
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup white wine

Directions

Sprinkle hulled berries with sugar, and cover with wine; chill. You will find the berries delicious and different.

Serves 4.

NOTE: For variation, try a liqueur instead of wine and omit the sugar; or a little champagne and sugar served ice cold. Or you might like a little lemon or orange juice with a spoonful of sugar, and let stand several hours.

Notes

The recipe in this entry was taken from "The Pleasures of Italian Cooking" by Romeo Salta, with an Introduction by Myra Waldo, photographs by Roberto Caramico, assisted by John Ciofalo. The book was published in New York by The MacMillan Company in 1962. For the complete copyright-free cook book visit www.archive.org....
