Directions Take the flour and mix it with the eggs, the two tablespoons of oil, sugar and a little milk, and a touch of salt and lemon zest.
Notes This recipe was first published in Montreal's Centre d"accuel Dante's newsletter, "Era Noi/Entre-Nous" (Volume 17, no. 1 Spring 2011). The recipe came with the following note that scarcelle are traditional Easter cakes from the Puglia region.Also, there are two types of tarts, one which was for the common people, and those made for rich children that included colored sprinkles. The original Italian text stated: "I taralli e le scarcelle sono i dolci tradizionali di Pasqua. Esistono due tip di scarcella: quella semplice e quella che una volta era destinata ai bambini piu ricchi, in mostra dai pasticceri.
