Pizza Fritte [sometimes spelled Pizza Fritta]

Pizza dough ingredients (flour, water, yeast and salt)
About a tablespoon of saffron
Vegetable oil for frying
Confectioner's sugar for dusting


Make pizza dough in the usual manner but add about a tablespoon of saffron to the dough, so that it adds color and taste.

Cut the uncooked pizza dough into small portions, stretch them out and then fry them.

Dust the pizza pieces with sugar before serving.
