Ingredients
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons Magic baking powder
3 tablespoons sugar
3 eggs
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 teaspoons almond extract
Canola oil for deep frying
For dusting
about 1/4 cup icing sugar
Directions
o Mix flour, salt, baking powder and sugar together.
o Beat eggs.
o Add oil and almond extract to the beaten eggs.
o Incorporate dry ingredients with wet ones.
o Knead the dough until it is soft and malleable.
o Shape into a ball and place in a container.
o Cover the container with plastic wrap and keep in the fridge for 1/2 hour.
o Take a chunk of dough, and using a pasta maker, roll out the dough so that it is about 1/8 inch thick.
o Using a pastry wheel make strips of dough about 5 inches long and 1 inch wide.
o Using a pastry wheel cut a slit in the center of each strip of dough.
o Heat the oil.
o Fry until golden brown.
o Drain on paper towels.
o Keep in fridge until needed.
o Dust with icing sugar prior to serving.
