Sesame Cookies/Biscottini Sesamo (using shortening; flavored with anise)

Ingredients

1/3 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups shortening, melted
3/4 lb sesame seeds
1 lb sugar
4 eggs, beaten
1 tablespoon anise
milk as needed



Directions

Blend flour, sugar, and baking powder and eggs and shortening; and mix with hands, add flavoring and mix to a smooth dough, using milk, if needed.

Roll dough out and cut into 1 inch lengths about the thickness of a finger.

Roll in sesame seeds.

Bake in a moderate oven (325 degrees F) about 20 minutes.
