Ciambella al cioccolato (Italian donut-shaped chocolate cake using butter, dark chocolate, cinnamon and lemon rind)

Ingredients

For 4 people:
125g (about 4 1/4 ounces) butter
300g (about about 10 1/2 ounces) sugar
300g (about 10 1/2 ounces) flour
100g (about 3 1/2 ounces) of dark chocolate
4 eggs
a pinch of cinnamon
grated rind of half a lemon
one packet of yeast
a glass (about 6 ounces) of milk

For dusting
Icing sugar

Ingredienti (Original Italian text)
Per 4 persone:
125g di burro
300g zucchero
300g farina
100g di cioccolato fondente
4 uova
un pizzico di cannella
scorza grattugiata di mezzo limone
una bustina di lievito
un bicchiere di latte



Directions

Cream the butter and sugar; add egg yolks, flour, yeast and milk a little at a time, the grated chocolate, cinnamon and lemon zest.

When all the ingredients are well blended, stir in the egg whites a little at a time.

Pour the mixture into a greased and floured baking pan, place in preheated oven at 180 degrees (about 350 degrees F) for about an hour.

Serve cake dusted with icing sugar.



Preparazione (Original Italian text)

Lavorare il burro con lo zucchero, e i tuorli aggiungere farina e lievito, latte poco per volta, il cioccolato grattugiato, la cannella e la scorza del limone.

Quando tutti gli ingredienti saranno ben amalgamati, incorporare gli albumi montati a neve poco alla volta.

Versare il composto in una teglia imburrata e infarinata, mettere in forno preriscaldato a 180 C per circa un'ora.

Servire la ciambella spolverata di zucchero a velo.
