Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Date: 1960s
Notes: Here is a picture of a group of the contributor's friends who had just spent the afternoon picking wild flowers in a field adjacent to their homes. In the 1950s and 1960s children of recent Italian immigrants did manage to have lots of fun even though they had very little spending money (Few Italian children, if any, got allowances).
The photo was taken by the contributor.

Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Date: 1962
Notes: In the 1960s many Italian-Canadians used the unfinished basements of their homes to host big birthday parties. My parents did this as well. Despite the fact that the basements were not finished, everyone had a great time.

Notes: In the 1960s few people (if any) decorated Christmas trees in Italy. After a few years of living in Canada decorating Christmas trees became part a traditional part of my family's holiday festivities.
