Historians note that Italian immigrants usually settled in different regions of the U.S. based from where they came from in Italy. At the beginning of the 20th century the majority of Italians settled in mid Atlantic states, like New York and Pennsylvania. However, a large number of Sicilians went to New Orleans, while Neapolitans and Calabrians went to Minnesota while those from northern Italy went to California.
