Church of the Madonna de la Consolata
Montreal, Quebec
Date: Current
Notes: The Church of the Madonna de la Consolata was built to accommodate the growing Italian community in the late 1950s. The church is very close to "Little Italy." Most Italians who came to Montreal in the late 1950s belonged to this church, including this contributor. Back then this church showed movies every Friday night. The films of Laurel and Hardy were quite a hit with the newcomers.

Santa Cabrini Hospital
Citta Italiana, Montreal, Quebec
Date: built in 1960
Notes: By 1960 "Little Italy" had extended its borders. The area between St. Hubert and St. Lawrence Blvd. was no longer large enough to contain the growing immigrant population. The majority of Italians moved to the East end of Montreal. The Santa Cabrini Hospital was one of the first health care facilities in Canada to offer services in Italian.
