Notes: This Christmas greeting card photo was taken for the expressed purpose of sending it to the contributor's nonni in Italy. While her parents often spoke of her nonni with great affection, because they were not physically present in her life, they were not "real" to her. Letters and photos tried to bridge the distance between the two continents but the contributor, like many other Italian-Canadian children, did her schooling in English and so could not even read the simple Italian words on the card.
